This is about raw thermal output and wattage density—the stuff that actually matters on the factory floor.
Getting the Voltage Right
Here’s the thing about high-output tubes: they’re picky. They run on specific voltage-wattage curves to keep that heat flux steady. If you’re setting up a high-speed line, your voltage has to match your power supply exactly. If it’s off, you’re looking at flickering or, worse, a filament that pops the moment you flip the switch. We spend a lot of time on the tungsten winding tolerances. Why? Because you need the heat to be uniform across the whole tube, not just in a few hot spots.
The Glass and the Fit
We use high-purity quartz because it can take a beating from thermal shock without cracking. But the glass is only half the battle. Whether you’re using R7s or Sk15 connectors, the fit has to be snug. A loose connection is a disaster waiting to happen—it creates arc points that can literally melt your sockets. Plus, we use a halogen cycle to stop the quartz from turning dark over time. It keeps the infrared transmission high, which means more heat actually hits your workpiece and less of it gets wasted heating up the lamp housing.
Real-World Use and a Few Warnings
These lamps are designed to be drop-in replacements. They work great for things like PET blowing or curing electronics. But a word of advice: high wattage density creates a lot of heat. Make sure your cooling fans can actually keep up. If your airflow is choked, the ends of the lamp will overheat and burn out. Also, get into the habit of checking your reflector alignment every 500 hours. You want to make sure the heat is hitting the target, not bouncing back into the tube. It saves your equipment from taking a beating and keeps everything running smooth.
